Gathering AK Cafe and re:MADE are changing
Dear Volunteer/Donor/Entrepreneur/Customer/Community,
First, thank you.
Whether you’ve supported us from day one or joined somewhere along the journey, your time, resources, and belief in the mission of re:MADE has helped build something truly unique. re:MADE has never been just a store—it has always been a movement of people committed to reducing waste, empowering entrepreneurs, and creating purpose through repurposing. Together, we’ve made an impact far greater than any one person or location.
Recently, the Board of Directors and the Executive Director for this store/organization made the decision to not remain an affiliate with re:MADE Stores National, the support network and framework that has served to guide, equip, and sustain stores like ours across the country. This decision was made solely by the board and reflects a desire to move in a new direction—one that is different from the re:MADE model and the systems that have been in place since the beginning.
We want to be honest in saying that this was not the original founder’s desire, nor was it a recommendation from re:MADE Stores National. This separation represents a significant shift, and we understand that it may feel confusing or even disheartening to those who have stood beside us for years.
We also recognize that many of you were drawn to this mission because of the founder’s passion, creativity, and commitment to doing life better together. That legacy remains intact—and so does her ongoing work with re:MADE Stores National, which will continue to support affiliated stores and entrepreneurs nationwide.
As this south Anchorage store/organization steps into this new chapter, it will no longer be operating under the re:MADE Stores National framework. We wish them the best as they create something new. We ask that any questions about this change be directed to the Board of Directors, who have chosen to take this new path.
We remain incredibly grateful for each of you. Whether your support continues with this local organization or joins re:MADE Stores National as it continues to expand its mission locally and across the country, we know that your heart for community, sustainability, and second chances will continue to shine.
With gratitude and respect,
Patti Buist
